  • 7:00pm, TaizĂ© Worship Service

Taize is a town in eastern France, Between Dijon and Lyon. Today, the Taizé community is made up of over a hundred brothers, Catholics and men from various Protestant backgrounds, coming from around thirty nations. By it very existence the community is a "parable of community" that wants its life to be a sign of reconciliation between divided Christians and between separated peoples. Services of prayer and meditation began in Taize in the early 1990s. Since then thousands have come as pilgrims to participate in these quiet, prayerful experiences. The services combine prayer, Scripture reading and response, singing and silence. The music is short and repetitive to allow for mediation, and the silences are long. These services have grown in popularity in the United States, and many church offer them throughout the church year.

Upcoming Special Services

  • Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 7:00pm, Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the 6 weeks before Easter. For the Christian faith, this is usually a time spent in contemplation and in prayer. Some traditions spend this time fasting - physically from food, or from other worldly things, or taking on some new habit or devotion in order to draw closer to God. We mark this day with ashes on the forehead as a symbol of the dust and ash we were formed from in creation, and the remembering that one day we will return there. Pastor Lisa will be at the Coffee Trader on Main Street from 7-8 a.m. if you’d like to receive ashes in the morning; at the front of the alley way to the church from 12 to 1, if you’d like to get your ashes in a drive through line, and at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary during a short worship service. However you come to this day, come with a desire to know the love and grace of Christ more fully in your life.
